光绪元宝是清朝光绪年间流通的货币之一。四川省造的背龙光绪元宝又称四川龙洋，早铸造于光绪24年（1898年），1899年朝廷下令停铸，1901年重新开铸一直到1908年，铸造量小，值得收藏。光绪十三年，两广总督张之洞向清政府奏请并得到批准，于是购买外国造币设备，在广东率先设立钱局首铸机制钱币，其后，各省纷纷仿效，购置国外机械铸造银、铜元。四川省造光绪元宝就在此背景下应世而生，极富历史感。

背面：蟠龙居中偏右，外圈为英文，上镌有“SZECHUEN PROVINCE”英文，两旁镌四瓣花，一说是长寿花，寓意长寿；一说则是梅花，寓意在严冬中屹立的大清帝国;下缘“:7 MACE AND 2 CANDAREENS”字样的英文标记,亦是象征着当年自欺欺人式的言论：与国际接轨。
